We provide all Gympassers with a benefits program specifically designed to prioritize their health and work-life balance, but we know it’s not just about providing resources. Our leaders are also focused on creating the right company culture and driving actions that encourage employees to take full advantage of our benefits, whenever they need to.
What does our benefits program include?
We asked Denis Hickey, Global Head of Benefits and Compensation, to tell us more about the program and how he encourages his team to take care of themselves.
Wellness resources
In addition to local healthcare programs, we provide all employees with a free Gympass Gold plan as a core part of our benefits program. This gives them access to the world’s largest network of health and wellbeing partners, including in-person fitness partners (over 50,000 gyms and studios worldwide), virtual classes with hundreds of activities, personal training, sleep and meditation guidance, emotional wellbeing support, wellness coaches, nutrition resources, and more!
“At Gympass, we are committed to living our mission of making wellbeing universal. Our employees regularly get together for a wide variety of activities: HIIT, spin, yoga, meditation, etc. Some are company sponsored and others are employee-driven where someone posts on our internal communication platform a new activity or partner they want to try out and other employees join along for the adventure. It’s great for team-building!”
Earned rewards
We offer competitive compensation packages in all markets in which we operate. For most roles, this includes cash incentives tied to company and individual success. For example:
- Gympass’ Annual Bonus Plan (ABP): an annual cash award based on business and individual performance.
- Sales incentives plans: designed for Gympassers in commercial roles.
We also offer the opportunity for top performers to participate in our equity program. Stock options are an important part of Total Rewards at Gympass. We want them to share in the potential value created through growing the business. Stock options can be awarded in the annual compensation cycle, based on a full-year performance review assessment.
Flexible work
We promote flexible work. Our hybrid work structure allows employees to choose where and when they work. We understand that together, Gympassers and their leaders can make the best decisions for their own individual scopes. This includes flexibility to adjust their working hours based on their personal schedule, time zone, and business needs. We also offer a home office stipend and a monthly flexible work allowance to help cover the costs of working from home.
“The last three years have shown us that a flexible, hybrid work environment can be just as productive, while also enabling employees to achieve an improved work-life balance. Our guiding principles serving this policy are trust, autonomy, transparency, and accountability for results. Flexibility also helps Gympassers adjust their schedule as they need and have more time to take care of themselves.”
Career growth
We encourage employees to move across teams, departments, and locations if the opportunity fits with their career plans and they meet the qualifications of the position.
For this purpose, we spotlight new opportunities each week on our internal job board, and we have a robust internal recruitment process for promotional and developmental opportunities. We recognize that career development is no longer about climbing a ladder. Instead, it’s about building competencies by gaining valuable experiences across different pathways.
To this end, we want our employees to expand their professional skill sets and career as a part of our global growth story. We include both online and in-person training and learning opportunities in our benefits program. All Gympassers get access to online learning libraries, such as Udemy, O’Reilly, and Coursera.
Paid time off
We have a market-leading PTO policy which starts at a global minimum of 25 days of paid leave per year. We know how important it is to have work-life wellness. That’s why any Gympasser can take time off without the need to ask their Manager’s approval. In addition, we also have generous holiday and leave policies (parental leave, tenure days, and an extra holiday on their birthday) in each country in which we operate.
“We encourage our leaders from the top down to use their time fully as a model for their teams, helping us to continue to build a healthy culture focused on wellbeing.”
Plus, our Gympassers don’t have to use their PTO days if they get sick, “if they aren’t feeling well, we encourage them to take the day off and recover. It’s a company priority!”
